Services like HealthTap have proliferated over the last year as a way to let anyone with questions about their health connect with real, licensed physicians online and avoid the pain of waiting in line at the doctor’s office.
This is an excellent example of how a social media platform can be integrated into health care at the community level but, does it open the door for people seeking answers to health conditions to be led in the wrong direction by the online community.
It is not clear how the Medical Officers intervene with the online chat. Nevertheless it is a creative and exciting start up that will evolve over time and hopefully respond to the community issues.
